5 years

Five years ago, I took a leap of faith and ventured on my own. Armed with hope and prayer, I settled on this tiny little space in this bustling city. ⁣

During my quiet times, I would sit by this window and watch the world go by. I’ve witnessed the sky change from morning to night, enjoyed the afternoon sunrays dance on my walls, watched the rain drops fall, waited for storms to pass. I’ve seen people rush and cars zoom about, and how all these have quieted down the past weeks. ⁣

This pandemic changed my practice too. As my patient said, “it’s like we’re back to square one.” New protocols have been in place. Digital platforms are now more actively engaged. Appointment systems are strictly adhered to. The elaborate pre and post treatment cleaning are done for every patient encounter. The new normal, as we describe it. ⁣

This year, I am thankful to be able to re-open my clinic doors. I am grateful to my assistant, my pharmaceutical suppliers and my patients for understanding the new clinic guidelines and for your continued support and trust. 💛 ⁣

Cheers to more beautiful years ahead! 🥂 #dermalogiquex5years

A Dermatologist’s journal during the COVID-19 pandemic: week 9

May 11 – 17, 2020

Hello, Earthlings!

Been working really hard to set-up a safe clinic environment. Looking back, I’ve spent the past 6 – 7 weeks organizing my online dermatology practice. Every week, I devoted an entire day researching, procuring and/or rearranging the equipment and furniture in the clinic.

It won’t be the same, that’s for sure. I anticipate a lot of behind-the-scenes coordination between doctor & patient. Everyone will be seen by appointment, even those buying medicines will be accommodated by schedule.

Life is slowly returning… but I’m not sure if it will return to the place where we came from. Caution is key. Stay safe, everyone!

Yes, I will look like this when you visit me!

A Dermatologist’s journal during the COVID-19 pandemic: week 7

April 27 to May 3, 2020

Summer is really my favourite season. Despite the sizzling temperatures, I always find joy in reminiscing my childhood summers. The only digital game back then was the Nintendo Family Computer… so we actually just had a blast playing with each other in the garden. Biking, hide & seek, cops & robbers, piko (hop scotch), sungka all day!!!

It’s been 7 weeks since the Enhanced Community Quarantine started. I am savoring the slow passage of time by making every day count. I am teaching my children my childhood games and past times. We’ve also been cooking and baking simple dishes, painting, playing with our pet, and just lounging around admiring the blues of the sky & greens of the grass.

I’ll miss this time when I start working in the clinic again. So, right now, I’m enjoying every bit of it.

A Dermatologist’s journal during the COVID-19 pandemic: week 6

April 20 – 26, 2020

Since the the quarantine started, I’ve been working hard to revamp my website and social media accounts. I am sooooo not a techie!!! Thankfully, the applications I use have user-friendly instructions and links to help me improve on my digital spaces. Do you like my website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn so far?

Since I am in a digital mode, I have also been busy practicing telemedicine and providing prescription medicines through available couriers. I am enjoying it, but I also miss my lovely clinic and all my patients. Hope to see you all soon! For now, stay home and stay safe!

A Dermatologist’s journal during the COVID-19 pandemic: week 5

April 13 – 19, 2020

Exactly one year ago…

One year really makes a difference.

I enjoyed the freedom of being oustide, going to work, enjoying the weekend, travelling to a new place.

I wonder if I will feel that carefree after the quarantine is over. I wonder if things will go back to what they were one year ago.
