The itch-scratch cycle

Lichen simplex chronicus is a thickened circumscribed plaque of skin that results from repetitive rubbing and scratching. The skin may be highly sensitive to touch or may also result from habitual scratching. The persistent itchiness and thickened lesion may cause patients to worry. 😔 There are other skin conditions which may present similarly. 👉🏼 That is why dermatologists do comprehensive history taking and, at times, a biopsy to get the diagnosis and treatment correctly. 🧐
